Still Fantastic and getting Smarter every day!

We’ve been working hard revisiting old ideas and learning new applications. AM is in full swing but we will have a short break as we reorder some of the objectives therefore no new AM will be assigned this week.  Students who are behind in their AM should take advantage of the chance to catch up this week along with the regularly assigned homework. If you have tested through objective 17 you are caught up – congratulations to you – but remember you will still have regularly assigned homework!

Students have been given instruction on how to scan and receive new AM work from a home computer if they wish. Otherwise, they can continue to receive assignments at school and scan their previous night’s homework here at school They are encouraged to try to scan before or after school, during AC or between bells when possible.

We will be finishing up Unit 2 – variables and solving various equations this week, preparing for a quiz on the second half of unit 2 on Friday October 2 as well as a unit test on Tuesday October 6th.  As always, I am available outside of class time for additional help – just ask!

Both quiz grades and the chapter 1 test grade have been posted to e-Grades – I will be posting homework grades for the last two weeks shortly along with grades for the quiz on the first part of  unit 2.

Wow! We are fantastic!!

Well, we are coming along  just fine all you Sea Turtle Math Maniacs!!  We’ve had a great introduction to middle school and I am very proud of the progress you have made. This week most of you will take or have taken the STAR Math test and we will have the first AM (accelerated math) assignments on Wednesday.  Those of you with home access to internet will be able to complete these assignments online (after the first one) using only the scan sheet for grading if you like.  Printed assignments are available for any student who prefers that method.

This week we will talk about the Order of Operations (remember PEMDAS?) and work on our mental math skills.  The first egrades have been posted and we will discuss in class how to check our grades and how to let me know if you think there is a problem. Parents, please feel free to check with me at any time regarding your child’s progress.

By next week, math tutoring during AC will be in full swing. I will invite certain students, but any student wanting extra help is welcome. Just let me know and I’ll reserve a spot for you!

So, signing off for now – prepare to be Math Mentally Amazed!! – Mrs. Myers

ps – I really like hearing from you – let me know what you think.
